About the Doctors
Dr. Kathleen Burr
Dr. Kathleen Burr graduated magna cum laude with an Associate of Science degree from the Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport. In 1985, she earned her D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dentistry. Four years later, she became a postdoctoral research fellow in orthodontics at t he prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she obtained her certificate in orthodontics. Dr. Burr is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. She has been practicing orthodontics in South Windsor since 1991.
In 2002, Dr. Burr was offered membership into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an elite international dental honor society. Membership is only offered to the top three percent of dentists that rank highest in ethics, professionalism, competence and contribution to the dental field.
Over the years, Dr. Burr has taught a variety of seminars in the New England area and is a clinical instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She stays abreast of the latest technological advances in her field through continuing education and memberships in the following professional organizations: the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Federation Dentaire International, Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics, International Association for Dental Research, Northeast Society of Orthodontists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Connecticut Study Club for Excellence in Dentistry.
Dr. Lubna Shafi
Dr. Shafi graduated from West Virginia University in 1992 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Biology. Dr. Shafi earned her D.M. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2000. During her studies at the University of Connecticut she was an appointed member of the school honor board, a member of the central governing board and class representative for the American Association for Dental Research. Three years later, Dr. Shafi earned her Masters in Dental Medicine and her Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Shafi has been practicing orthodontics for the last four years. She has been named a top doctor in Hartford Magazine, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, as well as a clinical instructor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Shafi keeps on top of the latest technological advances in her field through continuing education and memberships in the following professional organizations: the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Association of Orthodontics, the North Eastern Society of Orthodontics, the Connecticut State Dental Association and the Hartford Dental Society.
